What a great, thoughtful essay. Our attempt at a more perfect union was founded on enlightenment principles, a spirit of inquiry that was part of a commitment to moral progress, a drive to make the world a better place. Jill Lepore points out that by the end of the 19th century this definition of progress had instead become economic growth... and by the end of the 20th century, it had become people having more stuff. So I hope we have an opportunity to rediscover our ideals in the process…

I love the inspiration Scott. Nothing is final and that's a good reminder on the green spaces of the past and rethinking the spaces of the future. Good work.
